Title:

Cozy and Very Helpful Coaching Technique!

Description:

In August 2025, I traveled to Sweden to participate in a 1-on-1 coaching session with Bas den Blaauwen Neurodiversity Coaching & Training. The way this company provides coaching is a very natural and beautiful approach that opens new doors and allows you to stand differently in your own life, giving you a sense of complete calm and relief. I would recommend it to anyone who feels blocked in life or runs into obstacles that make them feel stuck. Whether it’s ADHD or not doesn’t matter at all. Bas has amazing skills in reading your body language, which makes the coaching truly personal.

Doing this in Sweden is definitely an added benefit because of the peace and nature surrounding you. The culture is also so relaxed, and they don’t know stress here. During the walks, you even get to hear fun Swedish facts, which I personally find very enjoyable and interesting. You may also come face to face with foxes, deer, slowworms, adders, and tiny toads/frogs!

My advice: Go for it!! You can always change your path!

A review from Anne

Anne came to Sweden in october from The Netherlands and took a dive by coming here by herself. She wrote a review about her intensive coaching experience, consisting 2 full mornings.

'From the very first moment I got in touch with Bas, it became clear to me how many positive qualities someone with ADHD can actually possess. My impulsive – and completely undefined – question quickly led to an even more impulsive yet concrete response from Bas. It was obvious that he was thinking in terms of possibilities. That alone already gives so much energy! It’s such a relief when someone speaks the same language. And before I knew it, I found myself, with all my heart and soul, breathing in the peace and space of the Swedish nature.

That said: not without a few moments of fear, because making the choice to really choose for yourself is incredibly scary. But even for this fear, there was room.

And I noticed soon enough that this wasn’t the first time Bas had guided someone through it. The right conditions were created for me to leave with peace of mind. And believe me, even getting a 1930s diesel engine running again would have been easier! That Sweden is such a beautiful place to stay probably helped as well. The pure air, the relaxed atmosphere, the raw nature and breathtaking landscapes made all my distractions and overstimulation fade away. This finally gave me space to work on what I find the hardest: to feel.

The sessions with Bas were effective. Literally with space and air around you to breathe. Sometimes far outside my comfort zone, but always with a safe and trusted foundation. Uncomfortable? Absolutely… Where I had managed to fool several psychologists with my learned masks, Bas pierced right through my carefully constructed elephant skin within seconds. Not with complex theories, protocols or rigid schemes, but through real connection – and a healthy dose of humor. Feeling. Who is standing in front of me, and what does this person need?

Outdoor coaching ADHD, Neurodiversity, stress, Bas den Blaauwen

In the past, I could flawlessly anticipate what the “right” answer in a psychological session should be. Unnoticed (and unconsciously!) I would present the perfect trauma/burnout/depression storyline (been there, done that) and often responded from expectations. And that is precisely why it didn’t truly work for me at the core. But with Bas, I couldn’t get away with that. It was confronting, sometimes raw, but spot on.

Because of the setting in the middle of nature, the energy it cost and gave had the space to ripple further. There were hardly any distractions, which improved my focus. I think it’s fair to say that Bas has witnessed a deeper layer of me that very few people have ever seen.

Do I feel reborn afterwards? Am I fully healed? Overflowing with energy? No – I have to disappoint you there. And I think that’s also an illusion. But being able to experience with all my senses what it actually means to feel – that is an invaluable enrichment and the very first step in my recovery and in reclaiming my own self. It starts with recognition. A person who can put their finger on the right sore spot. And the willingness to look yourself in the eye critically and dare to be vulnerable.

This journey and these sessions are the best gift I could have given myself.

And hey, if you’re the type of person (like me) who usually only reads the key sentences and already tuned out by my second line – I got you ;) :

👉 The coaching sessions with Bas in beautiful Sweden were incredibly valuable, and I highly recommend everyone to take the plunge as well. Thanks for making this experience possible!'

'Bas is a great coach who, during the beautifull hikes in Swedish nature, gives you the tools and insights that help you. Making fire together with a flint and grilling sausages above it was an extra bonus.' - Job-Netherlands
